Born and raised in southwestern Ontario, Canada, George's poems reflect the christian environment in which he was raised. After completing his university education he ventured to northern Ontario to teach Design and Technology. Living in this remote location, and subsequently northern Alberta, gave rise to many opportunities for reflection, further reinforcing his faith in God. His poems draw upon the spiritual peace that can be experienced regardless of geography. These poems were written in a journal of insights that George keeps. Each new entry records the emotional/spiritual growth experienced as a result of the many challenges encountered in life.
His poems have appeared in seven anthologies since his first poem appeared in 1984. He has won two Poet of Merit Awards(1989, 1990) from the American Poetry Association. His books, shades of life, veiled images and spiritual seeds, were written in response to numerous requests to have all his poems and thoughts collected together. In his first book, shades of life, his collection ranges from emotional experience(the masterpiece), philosophical(the brook), esoteric(troubled minds), to the spiritual(an attitude). After achieving some success with the varied audiences reached in his first book, he turned his efforts to producing an illustrated collection of largely philosophical and spiritual related poems. This collection became his second book, veiled images. In it he uses simple line drawings to point to another possible interpretation of each poem. Looking not just between the lines but beyond the words. The insight offered through the poems allows us an opportunity to reflect on our own journey in life. His third book, spiritual seeds, was assembled to provide further reflection upon the spiritual threads that are woven into our daily lives. Some of the poems in this collection, were gathered from shades of life and veiled images. The remainder are new poems which were compiled to maintain the common thread of a journey through life. Each poem is accompanied by an anecdotal comment or insight. The thoughts contained in this volume project an image of profound desire to awaken spiritual understanding.
The author divides his time between family life and work(as a teacher, writer and story teller) constantly being amazed by the expression of our Lord's love and power in the world around us.
